New Delhi: Customs officers at IGI Airport, Terminal-3, New Delhi, thwarted a gold smuggling attempt through effective Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS) profiling.

The suspect, Mohammed Iliyas, who had arrived from Jeddah on Flight No. Al-992, was subjected to a detailed examination of his baggage and a personal search. The scrutiny led to the discovery of four oval-shaped capsules weighing 1280 grams, containing gold in chemical paste form.

A total of 1111 grams of gold, valued at Rs 59,56,304 was seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962.
