Chennai: Engineers India Limited (EIL) has joined hands with IIT Madras for MC²+ Ignite, a new accelerator programme aimed at helping deep-tech startups develop and deploy technologies for India’s oil, gas and energy transition sectors.
The programme brings together energy public sector undertakings, academic institutions and startups to create a pathway for promising technologies to move from research and development to industry applications.
The launch was attended by Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and Chairman of the MC2 Foundation, along with Atul Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of EIL, and other representatives from the energy and innovation ecosystem.
For EIL, participation in MC²+ Ignite adds a new channel to its efforts in technology development and indigenisation. By connecting with emerging deep-tech companies, the engineering consultancy and project management company can help identify technologies with potential applications across the energy value chain and support their transition towards commercial deployment.
Under the Ignite accelerator track, around 30 startups will be selected. Each startup can receive up to ₹2 crore in milestone-linked convertible funding, along with access to infrastructure, technical expertise, mentorship, pilot opportunities and industry connections.
The wider MC²+ platform, which stands for Multiply, Collaborate, Create, is designed to bring energy PSUs, academia and technology innovators together. The model gives startups an opportunity to work more closely with industry while enabling energy companies to explore emerging technologies for operational and future requirements.
EIL’s involvement also creates opportunities for Indian deep-tech solutions to be tested in industry settings and scaled for wider use. The company’s participation comes as the energy sector looks to adopt new technologies across conventional oil and gas operations as well as emerging areas of the energy transition.
Through MC²+ Ignite, EIL is strengthening its engagement with India’s startup ecosystem while helping create a bridge between home-grown technology development and the needs of the energy industry.
