New Delhi: In a significant step towards strengthening public healthcare in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) launched two major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Project Arogya Mitra and Project Sehat Sathi, Nayi Drishti & Swastha Matritva, in Gorakhpur on July 29, 2026.

The initiatives were inaugurated by Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director, HURL, in the presence of the Business Unit Head, Gorakhpur, Vice President (CSR), HURL, the Dean of BRD Medical College & Hospital, senior HURL officials, representatives from Manav Vikas Sanstha (MVS India) and HLFPPT, doctors, and other dignitaries.

Under Project Arogya Mitra, HURL installed six Health ATMs, two each at SSB Composite Hospital, BRD Medical College & Hospital, and Lalit Narayan Mishra Railway Hospital, with an investment of ₹52 lakh. The digital healthcare kiosks provide access to more than 50 diagnostic tests, including blood sugar, HbA1c, ECG, eye screening, audiometry, and cholesterol assessments, generating comprehensive health reports within 15 to 20 minutes. The initiative is expected to strengthen preventive healthcare and enable early detection of health conditions.

Under Project Sehat Sathi, Nayi Drishti & Swastha Matritva, implemented in partnership with HLFPPT, HURL dedicated an advanced Phaco Machine worth ₹70.31 lakh to the Department of Ophthalmology at BRD Medical College & Hospital. The equipment will enhance cataract surgery and strengthen specialized eye-care services for patients in the region. As part of the programme, a Godh Bharai ceremony was organised for 20 expectant mothers, who were also provided nutritional kits to support maternal and child health.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director, HURL, reaffirmed the company's commitment to strengthening public healthcare infrastructure through meaningful and sustainable CSR initiatives that create lasting social impact.

Together, the two initiatives strengthen healthcare delivery in eastern Uttar Pradesh by expanding access to preventive diagnostics, enhancing specialized eye-care services, and supporting maternal and child health.
