Air India unveils bold new logo; retains iconic Maharaja

New Delhi: India's oldest airline, Air India, has recently unveiled a fresh and vibrant logo, ‘The Vista,’ that marks a significant step in its ongoing transformation. The airline, now under the wings of Tata Group, shed its former look in exchange for a sleek and stylish appearance that signals a new era of possibilities and progressiveness.

Gone are the days of the red arched window accents that were once synonymous with Air India. The airline's tail fin has been transformed into a mesmerizing canvas of gold, red, and purple hues, while the underbelly proudly bears the airline's name in bold red and gold. This fresh design, meticulously crafted by the FutureBrand, is set to make its debut on the upcoming Airbus SE A350 jets, expected to grace the skies later this year.

Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Air India, expressed his excitement over the revamped look, highlighting how the new brand identity is poised to elevate Air India's standing on the global aviation stage. The transformation is not merely skin-deep; it embodies a strategic move to align the airline with its new vision and future aspirations.

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, said that the golden window atop the logo represents a gateway to limitless possibilities, reflecting confidence and progress. The logo symbolizes not only Air India's evolution but also its commitment to providing exceptional service and hospitality.

Despite the sweeping changes, Air India ensures that the iconic figure from its past remains present. The Maharaja, the airline's beloved mascot for over 75 years, will continue to have a place of honor. Campbell Wilson emphasized the importance of the Maharaja's legacy, explaining how it represents Indian warmth, humility, and hospitality. The Maharaja's role, however, will evolve. While it steps back from its mascot status, it will continue to grace the airline's premium classes and airport lounges, embodying the essence of Air India's rich heritage in an elegant and sophisticated manner.

Air India's rebranding is not only a visual spectacle but also a testament to its determination to redefine itself for the modern age while honoring its cherished history. The unveiling of 'The Vista' marks a new chapter for this iconic airline — one that embraces change while staying true to the values. /BI/
