Senior IPS officer Ravi Sinha is new RAW chief

New Delhi: Ravi Sinha, a seasoned IPS officer belonging to Chhattisgarh cadre, has been designated as the new head of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). As per an order from the Ministry of Personnel, Sinha will assume the position after the completion of the incumbent Samant Goel's tenure on June 30. Sinha's appointment comes with a two-year tenure, marking his new role as the chief of R&AW.

Sinha, an IPS officer of 1988 batch, presently holds the position of special secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has granted approval for Sinha's appointment as the secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). According to the order, Sinha will serve in this capacity for a period of two years.

Sinha's contributions to the intelligence gathering field have been recognized for his successful incorporation of modern technology. He has gained a reputation for maintaining a low profile while working across various domains, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position.

Sinha, an alumnus of St Stephen’s College in Delhi, possesses a strong understanding of regional dynamics, particularly in areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, the North East, and regions affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE), where he has served at various points in his career. /BI/
