Simala Prasad, IPS: Balancing roles, responsibilities, and dreams!

Bhopal: Amid switching from one role to another and living a multitude of aspirations and dreams, life happens!

Such has been the story of Simala Prasad, IPS, who is both a bureaucrat and an actor. She is currently posted as SP, Railway, Jabalpur and is in the news for her role in the upcoming movie "The Narmada Story."

Born in October 1980 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Simala owes a lot of what she is today to her family. Her mother, Mehrunnisa Parvez, is a renowned Indian literary figure and a recipient of the Padma Shri award in 2005 for her contributions to literature. Her father, Bhagirath Prasad, served as an IAS officer. Inspired by her father's dedication to the civil services and her mother's artistic inclinations, Simala was destined to develop a unique blend of interests in governance and the arts.

Simala completed her schooling at St. Joseph Co-Ed School in Bhopal and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Commerce. She went on to earn a postgraduate degree in Sociology from Barkatullah University.

Simala's journey into the civil services began with her success in the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission Exam, through which she became a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Driven by a determination to further her career, she self-studied for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam. Her hard work paid off when she cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2010 on her first attempt, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 51 at the age of 22. This achievement marked the beginning of her illustrious career as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.

Simala credits her mother for instilling in her a deep appreciation for the arts. Her acting debut came with the film "Nakkash" in 2019, where she worked alongside actor Kumud Mishra. The film was directed by Zaigham Imam. She will play a lead role in an upcoming movie called "The Narmada Story," a film based on true events. Starring alongside celebrated actors like Raghubir Yadav and Mukesh Tiwari, the film is a suspense thriller that promises to be an eye-opener.

She continues to serve the public with the same zeal and commitment that she brings to her performances on screen. Her unique journey is an inspiring example of how diverse interests can be harmoniously balanced to achieve excellence in multiple fields. As she continues to make her mark in both arenas with great passion, she stands as a role model for aspiring civil servants and artists alike.
