Mumbai: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of India has launched Bharat Seva Kendra (BSK), a nationwide initiative aimed at improving last-mile connectivity for rural communities by making government schemes and essential services more accessible across India.
Designed as a grassroots movement, BSK is backed by a network of 2.5 lakh sarpanches and 6.5 lakh BSK Sarthis. These individuals will act as on-ground facilitators, linking rural citizens directly with welfare schemes related to financial aid, healthcare, education, employment, digital empowerment, and agriculture.
At the core of the initiative is the goal of cutting down bureaucratic delays by offering a single-window platform for government programs. By working closely with both central and state governments, BSK aims to streamline service delivery and eliminate the barriers that often prevent rural citizens from benefiting from welfare schemes.
Munindra Kumar, director general of CCI India, said, “BSK is not merely a service provider, it is an enabler of change. Every vertical within BSK, from financial inclusion to skilling and digital literacy, is designed to break barriers and create a thriving ecosystem of self-reliance. We are not just delivering services; we are fostering aspirations, nurturing talent, and laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient India.”
According to CCI India, Bharat Seva Kendra will empower farmers with new agricultural techniques, promote women-led entrepreneurship, improve healthcare access in remote areas, enhance digital literacy, and provide industry-aligned training to rural youth.
The launch of BSK is seen as part of CCI India’s broader strategy of economic and social transformation, guided by four focus areas—policy advocacy, tangible business expansion, strategic collaborations, and investment/funding support.
By embedding service delivery into the fabric of rural communities, the initiative aims to turn villages into active economic contributors, helping them thrive on the strength of local talent and resources.
