Adani Foundation inaugurates sanitary pad incinerator in Udupi

Udupi: Adani Power Limited, Udupi TPP, under the CSR wing of the Adani Foundation, inaugurated a sanitary pad incinerator device in Padubidri village, Udupi district, on September 18. The device, valued at ₹15 lakh, was installed near the Padubidri gram panchayat office as part of the Rural Infrastructure Development project, based on the action plan submitted by the gram panchayat for 2023-24.

 

The inauguration was led by Kishore Alva, president and executive director of the Adani Group, along with Shashikala, president of the Padubidri gram panchayat. The incinerator, with a capacity to burn 60 kg of sanitary pads per hour, aims to improve sanitation and waste management in public areas, schools, and colleges.

 

Alva highlighted the Adani Group’s ongoing commitment to social development in the region, noting that ₹1.90 crore worth of projects have already been completed, with a total grant of ₹3 crore allocated to Padubidri gram panchayat. He also discussed the importance of the incinerator in promoting environmental safety and hygiene.

 

Shashikala expressed gratitude to the Adani Group for its CSR initiatives and acknowledged the group’s contributions, including the renovation of a public toilet in Padubidri the previous year. The event was attended by local panchayat members and Adani Group officials. /BI
