Chennai: IndianOil, the country’s leading energy major, has announced the launch of STORM-X, a high-octane racing fuel designed for racing cars, at the Madras International Circuit during the Indian National Car Racing Championship. This innovative fuel is a result of the vision of Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman of IndianOil.
Vaidya highlighted the significance of STORM-X, stating, “We are set to transform the world of motorsports with the launch of STORM-X. This development positions us among global leaders in delivering top-tier automotive performance.”
The event also celebrated a strategic partnership agreement between IndianOil and the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC), aimed at elevating motorsports in India.
The launch event was attended by V Satish Kumar, Director (Marketing) at IndianOil, who unveiled the STORM-X brand logo. The event also featured Alok Sharma, Director (R&D) at IndianOil, and key MMSC officials including Ajit Thomas, President; Prabha Shankar, Secretary; and Vicky Chandhoke, Vice President. This collaboration signifies a major milestone, with IndianOil supplying race fuels and lubricants, and providing branding for the venue and vehicles during the Indian National Racing Championships (INRC).
Kumar emphasised IndianOil’s history of innovation in fuels and lubricants, noting, “We have consistently led the industry with high-quality products, including the country’s first 100 Octane fuel, XP100, and XTRAGREEN diesel, which offers reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency. Our offerings also include Ethanol100 for flex-fuel vehicles and Green Lubricants that enhance fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.”
Kumar further highlighted IndianOil’s ongoing support for motorsports, including its role as the title sponsor of MotoGP Bharat 2023 and its partnership with FIM for the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) from 2024 to 2026. “The launch of STORM-X reaffirms our commitment to excellence and innovation in motorsports,” he added.
Ajit Thomas, President of MMSC, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “We are excited to work with IndianOil to advance the quality and competitiveness of motorsports in India.
