Raipur: Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) launched under the Mukhyamantri Slum Swasthya Yojana (MSSY) have given a big boost to the health of those living in slums in urban areas of Chhattisgarh. MMUs not only provide regular check-up treatment to them but also save them from becoming victims of serious diseases. Since the launch of the scheme by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on November 1, 2020, 24904 camps have been organised so far. Free check-up, treatment and medicine have been provided to about 17.72 lakh patients.

“There are 120 MMUs equipped with modern equipment which are providing health services in all 169 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of the state. In these mobile medical units, MBBS doctors are providing treatment to the patients by setting up camps in urban slums. Pharmacists are also available for free distribution of medicines and lab technicians for free tests. ANM and MMU drivers are available to serve patients in some selected location camps as well,” said Alarmelmangai D, Secretary, Urban Administration and Development Department.

Out of 17.72 lakh patients who have been benefitted from MMUs, free lab test has been done for about 3.4 lakh patients. In all, 41 types of different lab tests are done in MMUs. Blood, excreta, urine, sputum, tuberculosis, thyroid, malaria, typhoid, etc., are examined by skilled lab technicians with state-of-the-art machines. About 14.6 lakh patients have availed themselves of services from pharmacists on the basis of doctor’s prescriptions, taking advantage of free medicines services through these MMUs.

The availability of 200 types of medicines like Paracetamol, Brufen, Metformin, Atenolol, B-complex, Iron, Folic acid, Cephalexin, Amoxicillin, Limci, ORS, Tetanus injection, Rabies injection, etc., is being ensured in all MMUs. There is also a provision of a blood-pressure measuring machine, sugar test machine, ECG machine, Oxygen cylinder, etc., in MMUs of MSSY.

It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has praised officers, employees of the Urban Administration and Development Department, District Collector and the team of MMUs on the continuous qualitative treatment of lakhs of patients in the state.

In Raipur about 4.23 lakh from 19 MMU, in Durg about 1.17 from 6 MMU, in Bhilai about 96000 from 3 MMUs, in Rajnandgaon about 1.4 lakh from 7 MMUs, in Bilaspur about  1.42 lakh from 7  MMUs, in Korba from 9 MMUs about  2.38 lakh, while about 1.06 lakh from 8 MMUs in Raigarh, about 1.14 lakh from 5 MMUs in Ambikapur, In Jagdalpur about 91000 from 4 MMUs, in Chirmiri about 36000 from 2 MMUs, in Risali from 2 MMUs about 59000, in Dhamtari from 4 MMUs about 70000, in Bhilai-Charoda from 2 MMUs about 53000 and in Birgaon from 2 MMUs about 50,000 patients have availed health services from these MMUs.

According to instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, on November 19, 2020, women’s special ‘Dai, Didi Clinics’ have also been started in the cities of Raipur, Bilaspur, Bhilai. Through ‘Dai, Didi Clinics,’ 28000 women have been treated through 403 camps in Raipur city. Similarly, 29000 women have been treated through 401 camps in Bhilai city and 33000 women have been treated through 399 camps in Bilaspur city.

Facility of mobile app Nishtha, real time GPS, CCTV camera, etc., is available for continuous day to day monitoring of the scheme. Along with the facility of Nidan, 1100 toll-free number for redressal of public grievances, facility of feedback machine is also available in MMUs for citizens. The team of Dedicated Area Project Manager cooperates with the nodal officers of the city for monitoring this scheme. This scheme is constantly being reviewed by Urban Administration Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia. /BI/
