New Delhi: The long-awaited results for the Civil Services Exam 2023 were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on April 16th, 2024, revealing a cohort of remarkable achievers who have earned prestigious ranks in one of the most competitive examinations in India. Among the top rankers are individuals whose journeys reflect dedication, perseverance, and excellence in their respective fields of study and profession.
Aditya Srivastava clinched the top spot, with Animesh Pradhan and Donuru Ananya Reddy securing the second and third ranks respectively. Out of a total of 1,016 successful candidates recommended for various central government services, 347 hailed from the general category, while 115 aspirants from the economically weaker sections (EWS) made the cut. Additionally, 303 candidates from the other backward classes (OBC), along with 165 from scheduled castes (SCs) and 86 from scheduled tribes (STs), earned their positions on the prestigious list, as disclosed by UPSC.

Aditya Srivastava, who graduated from IIT-Kanpur, secured the first position in the UPSC civil services examination, choosing electrical engineering as his optional subject. Originally from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Aditya also had a stint at Goldman Sachs. Prior to securing the top rank in the UPSC, Srivastava ranked 236 in the 2022 UPSC examination and opted for the Indian Police Service (IPS).
Animesh Pradhan, who secured the prestigious second rank in the UPSC exams, hails from Odisha and chose sociology as his optional subject. Succeeding in his initial attempt, Pradhan attained this remarkable achievement. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. Following his graduation, he gained experience as a software engineer in a private firm. He is currently working as an Information System Officer with Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
Ananya Reddy, a Geology graduate from Miranda House, Delhi University, achieved third place nationwide in the UPSC-CSE. After graduating in 2021, she began her UPSC preparation in Hyderabad, shifting from her hometown where she completed her schooling. Reddy, from Telangana's Mahabubnagar district, chose anthropology as her optional subject. Ananya cleared the exam on her first attempt.
From Kerala, PK Sidharth Ramkumar clinched the fourth position in the UPSC exam. He opted for anthropology as his optional subject and achieved the highest scores across his five attempts. Graduated in Architecture from the University of Kerala, he is currently undergoing training at the IPS Academy in Hyderabad. Initially, Sidharth cracked the exam in 2020, securing 181st rank and being shortlisted for the Indian Post and Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service. Subsequently, he attained the Indian Police Service in his next attempt. In his third attempt he secured the 121st rank. As luck shined on him, Sidharth achieved what he desired in his fifth attempt.
Ruhani, who graduated in Economics from Delhi University's St. Stephen's College, secured fifth place in the UPSC exam on her sixth attempt. She pursued her post-graduation in the same subject at Indira Gandhi National Open University and served as an Indian Economic Service officer at NITI Aayog for two years. Presently, she is undergoing training at the IPS Academy in Hyderabad.
