Arunachal's agriculture marketing board signs MoU with Dubai-based hypermarket for fruits' export

New Delhi: In a significant step to boost the export of fruits and vegetables from the State, the Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) signed an MoU with the Dubai-based Lulu Hypermarket.

The MoU was officially signed during the World Food India 2023 event in New Delhi.

This agreement sets the stage for the export of oranges and vegetables to Gulf countries, marking an important development by way of agriculture and market linkage. The MoU not only presents an opportunity for the farmers to expand their global market presence, but also promises to make agriculture a more rewarding venture for them.

The five-year MoU primarily focuses on exporting oranges, pumpkins and other select products from Arunachal Pradesh to Gulf countries through the extensive network of Lulu Hypermarkets. Lulu Hypermarkets, a prominent and diversified business conglomerate with over 200 hypermarkets worldwide and a turnover of USD 8.5 billion, offers a substantial platform for this endeavor.

The MoU was formally signed by APAMB's CEO, Okit Paling, and the company's Chairman and Managing Director, Zulfikar Kadavath.

This collaboration is set to create opportunities for the agricultural community, enabling farmers and producers to expand their outreach and showcase their products on a global scale. Lulu Hypermarkets will work closely with APAMB to facilitate the export of a wide range of agriculture and allied sector products from the State.

Furthermore, APAMB is actively engaged in discussions with exporters based in Singapore and is exploring the possibilities presented by cargo flights from Guwahati to Singapore.
