1992-batch IPS officer Reddy is Andhra Pradesh DGP

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government has appointed Kasi Reddy Venkata Rajendranath Reddy the new Director General of Police, who will be heading the state police force with immediate effect.

The 1992 batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre has replaced D Gautam Sawang. According to an official order issued by Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma, the new DGP will take charge shortly, while the outgoing DGP has been asked to report to the government.

Reddy is currently DG, Intelligence. Sawang, who took charge in June 2018, served as DGP for two years and nine months! Reddy has also served as the DG, Vigilance and Enforcement, Commissioner of Police of Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. /BI/
