New Delhi: Ashish Bhatia, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 1985 batch, will continue to serve as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat for eight more months. He was scheduled to retire on May 31, 2022.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for grant of extension in service of Shri Ashish Bhatia, IPS (GJ: 1985), DGP, Gujarat, for a period of eight months beyond his date of superannuation, i.e., 31.05.2022 in relaxation of Rule 16 (1) of All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958 as a special case in public interest,” reads an official order. /BI/
