New Delhi: Sanjay Kumar Jha has taken over as Director (Technical) of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), bringing over 30 years of experience in the coal industry.
Jha has held key leadership roles in MCL, including Area General Manager of the Lakhanpur Area from 2022 to 2024 and the Basundhara Area from 2019 to 2022. His tenure in these positions saw major contributions to mining operations, strategic planning, and technical improvements. He was recognised as the ‘Best Area General Manager’ in the Mega Project category at the Coal Minister’s Awards for 2021-22 and received the same honour from Coal India Limited for 2022-23.
He was instrumental in starting mining operations at the integrated Lilari-Belpahar-Lakhanpur project, commissioning the Ib Valley Washery, identifying land for MCL’s 10-megawatt ground-mounted solar plant, and overseeing the self-relocation of Khandsa village for a Coal Ammonium Nitrate plant.
MCL employees and management welcomed Jha as he stepped into his new role, expressing confidence in his leadership and technical expertise to enhance the company’s operations.
