The Prime Minister emphasised the necessity of continuing the movement to safeguard the rights of women and ensure their education. He called for a society where daughters can flourish without discrimination. "I commend all those who have enlivened this movement at the grassroots level. We must continue to uphold the rights of our daughters, secure their education, and foster a society where they can thrive without prejudice. Together, we can ensure greater progress and opportunities for India's daughters in the years to come," Modi added.
Launched on 22 January 2015, in Panipat, Haryana, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme aims to combat the declining child sex ratio, prevent gender-biased sex-selective elimination, and promote the survival, protection, and education of girls. Over the past decade, the initiative has become one of the government's most impactful social efforts.
The scheme has notably improved the sex ratio at birth, enhanced educational access, expanded healthcare, and bolstered women's economic empowerment. By collaborating with government bodies, NGOs, and local communities, it has laid a strong foundation for valuing and protecting every girl child. As it enters its second decade, the focus will shift towards sustainable changes through inclusive policies, better implementation, and active community engagement, ensuring continued progress toward gender equality and empowerment.
