Bhubaneshwar: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted a flight test of India’s first long-range hypersonic missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, located off the coast of Odisha. This advanced missile, capable of carrying multiple payloads, is designed to serve the Armed Forces with an operational range exceeding 1,500 km.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the achievement as a significant milestone, highlighting India’s entry into an elite group of nations possessing such advanced military technology. He congratulated DRDO, the Armed Forces, and the industry partners involved in the mission for their collaborative efforts.

The missile’s performance was monitored using a network of tracking systems deployed across land, sea, and air domains. Data collected from down-range ship stations confirmed the precision of the missile’s terminal maneuvers and its successful impact with remarkable accuracy.
