New Delhi: With India gearing up for its 76th Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Police has implemented a multi-layered security plan to ensure safety and order across the capital. Over 70 paramilitary companies and 15,000 police personnel will be deployed throughout New Delhi, bolstered by advanced surveillance systems, including drones, Artificial Intelligence-enabled cameras, and Facial Recognition Systems (FRS).

According to a senior police officer, "The city will be monitored by drones and CCTV surveillance, with cyber-specialist officers overseeing operations." Approximately 4,000 rooftop security points have been identified in North and Central Delhi, while 500 high-resolution cameras equipped with FRS have been installed along parade routes and other key areas.

The security strategy includes six layers of checking, multi-layered barricading, and the deployment of moving vehicles with FRS technology linked to a criminal database for real-time identification. Detailed route surveys, anti-sabotage checks, and increased vigilance in high-footfall zones have been conducted by DCPs of New Delhi, Central, and North districts.

Mock drills involving multiple security agencies are also underway. "DCPs have been properly briefed, and officers will remain on high alert, promptly reporting any suspicious activity," an official added.

Attendees of the parade will receive security stickers, while a special meeting was conducted with hotel and mall security staff to ensure their readiness.

Meanwhile, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in New Delhi on Friday night for his first state visit to India. President Subianto, accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita at the airport, will serve as the Chief Guest at the Republic Day parade on January 26. His visit, which runs from January 23-26, is set to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.
