Nation breathes easy as Naveen Jindal announces Oxygen support

New Delhi, April 23, 2021: Chairman on Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) Naveen Jindal on Thursday gave succor to many as he announced that the Angul-based plant of the conglomerate has 500 tons of liquid oxygen “readily available”. In a Tweet, Jindal said that JSPL was also ready to provide 100 tonnes Oxygen per day to “any government that needs it.” Amid the oxygen crisis for Covid patients reported from many parts of the country, this news came in as a big relief for many.

“We are doing our best; God willing, we will soon overcome the #OxygenShortage in the country,” Jindal posted on his handle @MPNaveenJindal.

In a series of subsequent posts, the former Member of Parliament also informed that oxygen from his plants was being sent to Delhi / NCR, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Jindal also shared the fact he spoke to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and have assured them of oxygen supply.

In MP, oxygen was being supplied from JSPL’s Raigarh plant. By Friday morning, Twitter was full of praise for Jindal, with people of all hues complimenting him for this generous gesture.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote on his Twitter handle: “Thank you for the prompt response @MPNaveenJindal Ji. Your valuable contribution will add strength to our fight against #COVID19.”  To which Jindal wrote: “Thank you @ChouhanShivraj Ji. We are ready to support the war against #COVID19 in all ways possible, we are in it together.”

Devraj Sanyal (@DevrajSanyal), MD & CEO of Universal Music Group wrote: “…The weight of the our fate is now in your & people like you & your able hands. Keep at it & you’ll receive blessings in MT. God bless you bro. Jai hind.” Three-time junior world golf champion Arjun Bhati (@arjunbhatigolf) complimented Jindal in Hindi. 

Director of GreyMatters Communications & Consulting, Dr Navneet Anand (@navneetanand) wrote on his Twitter handle: “Such a generous and timely intervention @MPNaveenJindal ji. Posterity shall remember you for this magnanimity. We sincerely hope all those with resources step in NOW.” Jindal responded: “Thank you for your kind words. We are in this fight together.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Praiseworthy work. What r the other large steel industries doing? Why r not those people like you coming forward for help during this pandemic? Tata Steel & JSW Group are supplying oxygen. But apart from this there r huge steel sectors but I hv not heard anything yet!”

By 3.30 pm, Jindal’s tweets had elicited massive response.
