Tata Steel CEO-MD takes over as CII president

New Delhi: Tata Steel CEO and MD TV Narendran has taken over as the president of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the year 2021-22. He takes over from Uday Kotak, Managing Director and CEO, Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited.

 

According to a statement, TV Narendran has been engaged with CII for many years at the state, regional and national level. He was the chairman of CII Eastern Region during 2016-17 and has led CII National Committees on Leadership and Human Resources besides being Chairman of CII Jharkhand. He was also the President Designate of CII for 2020-21.

Mr Narendran is an alumnus of IIM, Calcutta and NIT, Trichy. He is a recipient of Distinguished Alumnus Awards from NIT Trichy and IIM Calcutta. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of XLRI Jamshedpur and the Vice President of the Indian Institute of Metals. He was a member of the Board of the World Steel Association and is a member of its Executive Committee.

Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv Limited, is now the President Designate of CII for 2021-22. He has been engaged with CII for many years at the Regional and National level. Sanjiv was the Chairman of CII Western Region during 2019-20 and has led CII National Committees on Insurance and Pensions and CII Taskforce on Fintech. He has several awards to his credit including AIMA’s Managing India Awards - Entrepreneur of the year 2019, ET’s Business Leader of the year 2018, Financial Express Best Banker of the year 2017-18 and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year in 2017. Sanjiv is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, US.
