WPI-based inflation at 15.88 pc for May

New Delhi: The annual rate of inflation is 15.88 per cent (provisional) for the month of May, 2022 as compared to 13.11 per cent in May last year, said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday. The high rate of inflation is primarily due to rise in prices of mineral oils, crude petroleum and natural gas, food articles, basic metals, non-food articles, chemicals and chemical products and food products, etc., as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

The Office of the Economic Adviser, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade released the index numbers of wholesale price in India (Base Year: 2011-12) for the month of May, 2022 (provisional) and for the month of March, 2022 (final) today.
