New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has signed a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Italy-based Nuovo Pignone International to jointly pursue opportunities in revamping compressor systems within India’s fertiliser industry. The agreement, formalised on 9 April 2025, is set to remain active for a decade, with provisions for extension through mutual agreement.
 

As per the terms of the MoU, BHEL will take the lead role in bidding for identified compressor train revamp projects across the country, while Nuovo Pignone will act as the nominated vendor, handling a specific scope of responsibilities. The arrangement is purely collaborative, with no equity transfer or upfront payments involved.
 

BHEL sees this partnership as a strategic move to strengthen its footprint in the fertiliser sector's maintenance and repair space. The company expects to secure around 50% share of business value in the targeted projects through this collaboration, enhancing its role in modernising critical industrial equipment.
