New Delhi: In a significant step towards enhancing commuter convenience, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT), a digital solution designed to simplify travel across the metro network. This new feature eliminates the need for passengers to purchase daily QR tickets, making their journeys more seamless and efficient.

The new MJQRT was launched by DMRC's Managing Director, Dr Vikas Kumar, during an event at Metro Bhawan. Senior officials from DMRC were also present at the launch. The MJQRT marks a pioneering moment in India’s public transport system, being the first multiple-journey QR-based product to be introduced.

Available exclusively on the Delhi Metro Sarathi (Momentum 2.0) app, the MJQRT will allow passengers to manage multiple metro journeys without the hassle of frequent ticket purchases. Passengers can view their travel history, fare payments, and recharges directly through the app, which will be accessible to users starting tomorrow.

To begin using the MJQRT, passengers must register on the Delhi Metro Sarathi app and can make their first payment of Rs.150 to start their journey. Unlike traditional smart cards, no security deposit is required. Users can recharge their balance in multiples of Rs. 50 using digital payment methods such as UPI, credit cards, and debit cards, with a maximum balance limit of Rs. 3,000. A minimum balance of Rs. 60 is required for travel.

Passengers will also benefit from discounted fares when using the MJQRT. During peak hours (8 AM - 12 PM and 5 PM - 9 PM), passengers will receive a 10% discount, while off-peak travel offers a 20% discount. In addition to making travel more affordable, the MJQRT offers an eco-friendly alternative to plastic-based smart cards, further aligning with DMRC’s commitment to sustainability.

In case of theft, loss, or damage to the mobile device, the remaining balance on the MJQRT will remain secure, allowing users to log in on a different device and continue their journeys without any loss of funds.

Dr Vikas Kumar, MD of DMRC, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of this new feature, saying, “The Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT) is part of our broader ‘Ease of Booking’ initiative aimed at simplifying the travel experience on the Delhi Metro. This innovation not only enhances passenger convenience but also promotes an eco-friendly travel solution.”

The MJQRT joins a suite of fare options already available to DMRC passengers, including single-journey QR tickets, the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), and DMRC smart cards.  /BI
