New Delhi: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has been awarded the Mahatma Award 2024 for HR Excellence and Social Impact. This recognition highlights MRPL’s innovative Human Resource practices and its contributions to social development. The award ceremony took place on 1 October 2024 at the India International Centre, New Delhi, in honour of Gandhi Jayanti.
The award was presented by Dr Kiran Bedi, India’s first female IPS officer and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, and Amit Sachdeva, founder of the Mahatma Award. The event saw the participation of notable figures, including Sudha Murty, author Nayantara Sahgal, Anu Aga of Thermax, and Sminu Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Saw Limited.
On behalf of MRPL, the award was accepted by Girish K Rao, General Manager (HR), K. Nagaraja Rao, Senior Manager (CSR), and Heema Kumari, Assistant Executive (HR). The Mahatma Award recognises organisations that excel in social impact, sustainability, and humanitarian efforts across various sectors. MRPL’s recognition in the HR Excellence category reflects its progressive HR practices, strong focus on employee welfare, and its efforts to nurture talent. The company has also implemented several social impact initiatives, aimed at improving the quality of life in communities around its operations.
