New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HLL Lifecare Limited to strengthen emergency response and medical support for accident victims on highways. The agreement aims to improve the Incident Management System (IMS) by ensuring faster response times and better access to healthcare.
The MoU was formalised in the presence of NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and Kuruvilla P.C., Associate Vice President & Business Head of HLL Lifecare Limited, along with senior officials from both organisations.
Under this collaboration, HLL Lifecare will manage Trauma Centres and Emergency Stabilisation Centres along National Highways to provide immediate medical assistance. The initiative includes geo-tagging and mapping of health facilities, linking them with ambulance services for faster referrals. Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances equipped with real-time tracking technology will also be deployed at key locations.
To further strengthen response mechanisms, HLL Lifecare will conduct training sessions for Toll Plaza staff on life support techniques and emergency response. These sessions will also focus on psychological and stress management skills. Additionally, health screening camps for truckers and highway users will be set up at laybys and Wayside Amenities, offering tests for vision, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and oral cancer.
A dedicated Technical Support Unit will be established to oversee the implementation of these initiatives in coordination with NHAI officials. The MoU, set for five years, aims to improve medical response times and reduce fatalities on National Highways.
