Amravati: NHPC and Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation have collaborated to establish a joint venture, APGENCO NHPC Green Energy, to advance hydropower and renewable energy initiatives. The partnership has been formed as a 50:50 joint venture between the two entities, with the goal of driving sustainable energy solutions in Andhra Pradesh.

The joint venture aims to develop and manage pumped storage hydropower projects and renewable energy ventures, including solar, floating solar, and wind energy projects. It will undertake all aspects of these initiatives, such as planning, research, design, feasibility studies, project construction, operation, and maintenance, as well as the sale of generated power.

The initial phase of the collaboration focuses on five significant pumped storage projects: Yaganti PSP (1,000 MW), Rajupalem PSP (800 MW), Gadikota PSP (1,200 MW), Aravetipalli PSP (1,320 MW), and Deenepalli PSP (750 MW). Additional projects will be taken up in the future based on mutual agreement.

APGENCO NHPC Green Energy will also oversee activities related to project surveys, environmental management, detailed engineering designs, tendering processes, construction supervision, equipment selection, and project management. The company will be responsible for the commissioning, operation, maintenance, and trading of power generated from these projects, contributing to the state’s renewable energy goals.
