Power Grid Corporation secures major Rajasthan transmission system project

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been awarded a substantial transmission project in Rajasthan, following its successful bid through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB). The project, titled “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex): Part F (By clubbing Part F1 & F2),” will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

 

The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on October 9, 2024. This initiative includes the construction of a new 765/400/220kV Barmer-I Pooling sub-station, along with the development of 765kV and 400kV D/C transmission lines and associated extensions at existing substations in Rajasthan.

 

In a related development, Power Grid secured a contract in September 2024 for another Interstate transmission system in Gujarat, aimed at increasing transformation capacity at the Jam Khambhaliya PS (GIS). Following this announcement, the company’s shares saw an increase after being named the successful bidder for yet another transmission system involving two Khavda pooling stations.

 

In late trading on Thursday, shares of Power Grid rose by 1.12%, reaching Rs 333.45.
