New Delhi: The Central Excise office building at Nangal Raya, District Centre, New Delhi was inaugurated on October 8th, 2024, by Pankaj Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Finance in the presence of Sanjay Kr Agarwal, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Yogesh Sharma, Sr. ED (Engg.), NBCC and other senior officers of CBIC and NBCC. The newly completed office building, developed by NBCC (India) Ltd, stands as a symbol of modern infrastructure infused with sustainability feat.

With a cost of ₹32.82 crore, this project spans a total area of 6,208.49 square meters, incorporating cutting-edge facilities while adhering to Green Building norms. The construction is in line with the government’s commitment to eco-friendly, energy-efficient infrastructures.

The building is equipped with advanced facilities that emphasize its modernity and functionality. A 625 KVA DG Set ensures uninterrupted power supply, while a highly efficient VRV HVAC system, with a capacity of 440 HP, guarantees optimal heating, ventilation, and air conditioning throughout the premises. In terms of accessibility, the structure is fitted with two elevators, ensuring smooth and efficient movement within the building.

The building’s layout has been meticulously designed to accommodate various key departments of the GST Commissionerate. The basement houses essential infrastructure such as the fire water tank, treated and raw water tanks, and the main electrical room. The ground floor is dedicated to the canteen, pantry, recreation room, and restrooms for gents, ladies, and those with disabilities, along with a welcoming reception area. The upper floors have been allocated to different divisions of the GST Commissionerate. On the terrace, the building is equipped with a fire tank, water tank, VRV system and a 50 KVA solar system, reflecting the government's push toward renewable energy solutions.

The building’s external design is a visual tribute to both heritage and modern aesthetics. The façade combines Dholpur stone and Red Agra stone, interspersed with structural glazing, and is elegantly covered with GRC Jali and ACP sheets. This combination of materials lends the building a distinguished appearance, drawing from India's architectural heritage while incorporating the sleekness of contemporary construction.

NBCC has delivered a project that not only meets the operational needs of the Central Excise and GST Commissionerate but also sets new standards for sustainable, efficient, and aesthetically appealing government buildings. This project marks yet another step forward in the government’s mission to create infrastructure that is both modern and environmentally responsible.
