Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc is making substantial contributions to rural development through its diverse CSR initiatives, significantly impacting local communities in and around its headquarters in Udaipur. The company's projects, particularly in women’s empowerment and promoting rural sports, were recently praised by Jasmeet Singh Sandhu, IAS, the District Collector of Salumbar, during his visit to Jawar Mines. Salumbar is a small district in Rajasthan near Udaipur.

The core focus of Hindustan Zinc's CSR interventions is 184 communities located around their operations, spanning across 66 Gram Panchayats in 12 tehsils spread across Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, and Ajmer districts of Rajasthan.

Hindustan Zinc's Sakhi project, a cornerstone of their CSR efforts, has been instrumental in boosting women's confidence and enhancing their role in the development of their families, society, and the nation. This initiative provides women with skills and opportunities that lead to economic and social empowerment.

The company's commitment to environmental sustainability is also evident in its initiative to make Jawar Mines free from plastic waste, creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the community.

In addition to environmental and social initiatives, Hindustan Zinc supports local education and sports. On his visit, the District Collector participated in tree plantation drives at Mahadev Ki Nal and Ramnagar State Schools to promote environmental awareness among young students.

The Zinc Football Academy, operated by Hindustan Zinc, provides world-class training facilities for young athletes, promoting talent and encouraging sportsmanship in rural areas.

During his visit, Sandhu urged the local community to leverage government schemes like the Public Participation Scheme, which combines efforts from the government and the community for rural projects.
