New Delhi: In response to the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, predominantly tourists, on Tuesday, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has introduced streamlined measures to expedite claim settlements for affected policyholders.
Expressing profound sorrow for the loss of lives, LIC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the families of the victims during this challenging time. The corporation is dedicated to ensuring swift financial relief through a simplified claim settlement process tailored to alleviate the burdens faced by claimants.
LIC CEO & MD Siddhartha Mohanty stated, “In lieu of death certificates, any evidence in government records of death of the policyholder due to the terrorist attack or any compensation paid by central/state government will be accepted as proof of death.” This relaxation in documentation requirements aims to facilitate faster processing of claims.
To ensure prompt support, LIC has pledged to proactively reach out to claimants and settle claims expeditiously. “All efforts will be taken to ensure that the claimants are reached out and claims are settled expeditiously to the affected families,” the corporation emphasized in its statement.
For assistance, affected families are encouraged to contact their nearest LIC branch, division, or customer zone, or reach out via the dedicated helpline at 022-68276827.
