State-of-the-art library for cops, their families? Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Yadav shows the way

Muzaffarnagar: There are multiple ways to add value to the ease of cops' lives, who are heavily stressed given their odd duty hours and people’s ever burgeoning expectations from them. A state-of-the-art library for cops and their families in Muzaffarnagar comes as a pleasant surprise, writes Naina Jha of Bureaucrats India.

The credit for this remarkable initiative goes to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Yadav, who is known for his innovative initiatives to make policing a pursuit so close to the hearts of cops and the people for whom men and women in khaki are the first point of hope and help in emergencies.

The library has more than 1,000 books catalogued properly. Yadav, an avid reader himself muses on his Twitter handle: “Whatever I am today, it is only due to books. Not just the school books. From Harry Potter to Ronald Dahl, from Harari Yuvak to Jim Collins, Benjamin Graham to many other authors.”

The library has a variety of collections ranging from school books to competitive examinations, autobiographies to literature and many more. The entry is free. However, one has to pay a small sum of Rs 50 if he or she wants to take books home. The library is well equipped with Wi-Fi, four desktop computers and also has an e-learning centre, which will help children in their online education.

Abhishek, who came to Muzaffarnagar as an SSP in 2019, has not only tightened the noose only around the goons but has also gone out of way to improve the facilities for cops in barracks. These have been totally face-lifted along with gyms. The barracks meant for women cops have been provided with washing machines as well. Caring for men and women in khaki also makes policing with compassion an easier proposition!
