Leaders worldwide, including French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, joined in congratulating Trump on his return to the White House. Modi, echoing his longstanding rapport with Trump, emphasised India’s dedication to furthering the strategic relationship between the two nations.
In New Delhi, sources shared that Trump expressed deep admiration for India, referring to it as a “magnificent country” and noting the significance of his connection with Modi. Trump’s warm remarks highlight his commitment to India-US ties, reportedly calling Modi one of the first leaders he reached out to following his victory.
Had a great conversation with my friend, President @realDonaldTrump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors.

Analysts in India view Trump’s second term as an opportunity to build on recent advancements in technology and security collaboration. Arun Singh, former ambassador to the US, pointed to the strengthening of India-US defence ties under Trump’s previous term, recalling instances like the leasing of advanced US drones to India and support provided during India’s border challenges in 2020.
Some experts remain cautious, noting that challenges could arise in trade and immigration policies. Trump's prior administration saw fluctuations in these areas, and while his second term may continue to prioritise India-US cooperation, analysts expect potential challenges in balancing trade and immigration interests.
Despite any policy nuances, the India-US relationship is anticipated to advance, with experts viewing Trump’s term as a promising yet carefully navigated chapter in strengthening strategic and economic ties.
