Kolkata: Coal India Chairman P M Prasad reaffirmed the company's dedication to ensuring energy independence for the nation during the 76th Republic Day celebrations in Kolkata. He highlighted the need to ramp up coal production to meet India’s growing energy demands while reducing reliance on imports.
Prasad announced that India is set to surpass one billion tonnes of coal production this year, with Coal India expected to contribute approximately 70 per cent of this target. He emphasised Coal India's role in meeting the nation’s requirements, stating, “As long as India needs coal, Coal India will continue to deliver and achieve set production goals.”
On the occasion, the Chairman unveiled the 17th edition of Koyla Darpan, a publication showcasing key developments and achievements in the coal sector. The event also witnessed the participation of senior officials, including Debasish Nanda, Director (Business Development); Mukesh Choudhary, Director (Marketing); Mukesh Agrawal, Director (Finance); Achyut Ghatak, Director (Technical); and Brajesh Kumar Tripathy, Chief Vigilance Officer.
Vimala Prasad, President of CILOWS, along with other members, presented fruit hampers to representatives of Bodhana, a juvenile home for children with special needs in Kolkata.
