Shimla: The premises of the Vidhan Sabha in Tapovan, Dharamshala, have been integrated with the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA). With this connection, the proceedings of the Himachal Pradesh state assembly can now be accessed from anywhere in the country.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated NeVA on Wednesday, coinciding with the opening day of the winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in Dharamshala. During the launch, he emphasised that this Digital India initiative has been approved specifically for the Tapovan Vidhan Sabha. He also mentioned that a detailed project report (DPR) for extending the system to the Shimla Vidhan Sabha has been prepared and is currently under review by the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania highlighted that Himachal Pradesh was the first state in the country to adopt the e-Vidhan system in 2010. He noted that transitioning to NeVA, with support from the central government, marks a significant upgrade that will benefit the state’s legislative processes.
Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing the NeVA system, calling it a testament to the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership. He also expressed optimism that Himachal Pradesh would benefit greatly from the NeVA system, as it had from e-Vidhan.
This step further cements Himachal Pradesh’s position as a leader in legislative digitisation and transparency.
