ESIC strengthens IT systems to enhance service delivery

New Delhi: Under the leadership of Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is consistently working to enhance its medical services, delivery mechanisms, and IT systems. The Union Minister has been actively monitoring the progress of these efforts to ensure better outcomes.

The Dhanwantari Hospital Information System (HIS) has seen a 40% increase in adoption across ESIC hospitals and dispensaries, enabling healthcare providers to manage patient care and hospital operations more effectively. The concurrent user capacity for both the Dhanwantari Module and the Insurance Module has been significantly expanded, leading to improved system performance. The module now facilitates better patient care through enhanced access to patient records and case histories. Since September 2024, after a tenfold increase in concurrent user capacity, the number of reported incidents has dropped to one-third, with just 93 incidents recorded for 1.5 crore transactions.

ESIC has also upgraded its IT infrastructure, encompassing hardware, middleware, software, and network systems. This upgrade ensures faster, more secure, and user-friendly operations across ESIC facilities, easing the process of registration and contribution deposits. The transition to a new environment with improved connectivity, secure databases, and servers was completed successfully on 22 December 2024. This initiative is part of an ongoing Operations and Maintenance contract with the current system integrator, valued at Rs. 312 crore for three years.

The ESIC mobile app has been enhanced to provide a more intuitive experience, with online appointment bookings witnessing a 200% increase from 2022 to 2023 and a further 177% rise in 2024. These upgrades promise faster response times and seamless interactions for employers, insured workers, and beneficiaries, whether booking appointments online or accessing services digitally.

These measures underscore ESIC’s dedication to modernising healthcare delivery, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the experience of its stakeholders.
