Bhubaneswar: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has selected Brijendra Pratap Singh as the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Schedule 'A' Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU).

 

Singh, who currently serves as Director in charge of Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), was chosen from among six candidates. His appointment is subject to clearance and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

 

He will succeed Sridhar Patra, the current CMD, who is set to retire on 31 October 2024, with Singh expected to take over from 1 November 2024.

 

An alumnus of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, with a B.Tech in Mining Machinery, Singh brings over 32 years of experience across various operations, including Mines, Blast Furnace, Sinter Plant, and Plant Maintenance. He played a key role in ramping up production at Bhilai Steel Plant and introduced an advanced inspection system at Bokaro Steel Plant. During his tenure at Burnpur and Durgapur, he initiated significant modernisation projects. /BI
