Punjab sees major reshuffle with 15 IAS, PCS officers transferred

Chandigarh: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government has transferred 15 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officers on 25 September 2024, just 48 hours after issuing their previous transfer orders. This follows the massive reshuffling on 23 September, which saw 124 officers being reassigned, followed by an additional 49 transfers on 25 September.

The reshuffle was implemented under the directives of Chief Secretary Anurag Verma. Among the most notable transfers is Sanyam Aggarwal, a 2012-batch IAS officer, who initially held the position of special secretary of agriculture and farmers’ welfare. He was transferred first as commissioner of the Municipal Corporation (MC) of Bathinda, and subsequently, on 25 September, as director of higher education.

Ankurjit Singh, a 2018-batch IAS officer, who was posted as additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Pathankot just two days earlier, has now been appointed as chief administrator of the Jalandhar Development Authority.

Other officers facing similar back-to-back transfers include Nikas Kumar, a 2020-batch IAS officer, who transitioned from ADC (urban development) Amritsar to ADC (rural development) Hoshiarpur, and now serves as ADC (general) Ludhiana. Similarly, Harjinder Singh, another 2020-batch IAS officer, moved from ADC (rural development) Patiala to ADC Ludhiana.

New postings have also been made for some officers who previously lacked assignments. Divya P, a 2022-batch IAS officer, has been posted as sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Guru Har Sahai after a brief posting in Tarn Taran, while Vivek Kumar Modi and Krishna Pal Rajpoot, also 2022-batch IAS officers, have been transferred from earlier postings to new SDM roles in Adampur and Abohar respectively.

Several PCS officers, including Sanjeev Sharma, Rohit Gupta, and Randeep Singh Heer, were also part of the reshuffle, each being reassigned new responsibilities across various districts.
