Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs. 651 crore undertaken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The event was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Amit Shah announced that the major road constructed in Ranip by AMC will transform the landscape of the area. He highlighted plans for developing amusement parks and markets on both sides of the road, benefiting residents of Naranpura, Vadaj, Ranip, Chandlodia, and Ghatlodia. He assured that the overall development of the area would be completed by 2029 and announced the inauguration of long-pending development projects in Chainpur and D Cabin, which will significantly reduce travel distances between Ranip, Nava Ranip, Chainpur, and D Cabin.
Shah introduced the initiative to construct stepwells (Bavdis) for rainwater harvesting in 350 societies in Ranip. The project, funded entirely by the Central and State Governments along with AMC, will not impose any cost on the societies. He also encouraged residents to adopt the Pradhan Mantri Solar Rooftop Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which promotes the use of solar energy to save electricity and reduce expenses. Shah noted that both initiatives were designed with a long-term vision to address climate change, rising temperatures, and future water needs.
He also announced the launch of a scheme to provide milk to girls and emphasised the government's efforts to ensure nutritious meals for children in Anganwadis. Citing the success of community-supported Anganwadis in Gandhinagar, where 30 per cent are now adopted by local residents, he urged people to support similar initiatives.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for their contributions to the region, Shah highlighted the ongoing development works. He also encouraged people to visit the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, calling it the world’s largest fair and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
