Bhopal: For over eight months, State Police Service (SPS) officers in Madhya Pradesh, awaiting promotion to the Indian Police Service (IPS), have been tracking a file that has been moving between the Police Headquarters (PHQ) and the home department. The file contains the names of 12 SPS officers, of which four are to be elevated to the IPS.
The officers, from the 1995 to 1998 SPS batches, are being considered based on their career details and Confidential Reports (CRs), which will be sent to the Centre for approval. The officers under consideration include Prakash Chandra Parihar (1995 batch), Dileep Soni, Sitaram Sasatya, Avdhesh Pratap Singh Bagri, Rajendra Kumar Verma, Amrit Meena, and Vikrant Marab (1997 batch), along with Surendra Kumar Jain, Ashish Khare, Rajesh Raghuvanshi, Nimisha Pande, and Rajkesh Mishra (1998 batch).
The file, initially sent from PHQ to the home department, was forwarded to the General Administration Department (GAD). However, the GAD returned it to PHQ via the home department, requesting additional clarifications. Among the officers, Prakash Chandra Parihar has already crossed the maximum age of 56 for IPS promotion consideration, prompting the GAD to seek updated details of all the officers.
In addition to these promotions, several IPS officers from the 2011 batch, including Riyaz Iqbal (deputy commissioner, Zone 3, Bhopal), Rahul Lodha (SP, Railways, Bhopal), Simala Prasad (SP, Railways, Jabalpur), Asit Yadav (SP, Bhind), Sushil Ranjan Singh (Commandant, 9th battalion, SAF, Rewa), and Sanjay Kumar Singh (deputy commissioner, traffic, Bhopal), will complete 14 years as SPs on January 1, 2025, making them eligible for promotion to the rank of DIG.
