New Delhi: Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) has announced a tender inviting bids for the development of 400 MW of wind-solar hybrid power projects in India. These projects are to be executed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis and can be located anywhere within the country, provided they connect to the inter-state transmission system. The bidding process allows a single developer to submit a bid offering a minimum contracted capacity of 50 MW, up to a maximum of 600 MW.

 

Successful bidders will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI, stipulating the procurement of wind-solar hybrid power. SECI intends to sell the procured power to various entities across India. This initiative is part of India's broader strategy to enhance renewable energy capacity and integrate more sustainable power sources into its energy mix. The long-term PPA ensures stability and predictability for developers, fostering investment in the renewable energy sector.

The prospective hybrid power developer will set up ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects, including the transmission network up to the interconnection/delivery points, to supply wind-solar hybrid power to SECI. Identification of land, installation and ownership of the projects, along with obtaining connectivity and interconnection with the transmission network for the supply of power to SECI, will be under the scope of the hybrid power developer.

 

SECI, representing Lakshadweep Energy Development Agency, has issued a tender inviting proposals for grid-connected solar PV projects with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at Androth, Bitra, Amini, and Kadmat Islands of Lakshadweep. These projects will operate under the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model. Under the terms of the tender, the Lakshadweep Electricity Department will engage in a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with successful bidders. Developers are responsible for the entire project lifecycle, encompassing design, engineering, procurement, supply of equipment and materials, installation, testing, commissioning, and integration with the existing distribution network grid. The cumulative capacity across all locations is set at 1,385 kW (AC) with BESS, aiming to enhance the islands' renewable energy infrastructure and ensure a sustainable power supply. This initiative aligns with Lakshadweep's efforts to increase reliance on clean energy sources and strengthen its energy resilience through innovative solar and storage solutions. /BI
