Raipur: In a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to establish a new "Good Governance and Convergence Department." This department aims to enhance the implementation of state welfare policies, ensure good governance, and address public issues more effectively.

This unique initiative will bring together functions such as e-Review, e-Public Service Guarantee, and the Digital Secretariat, which were previously managed by the General Administration Department.

Additionally, the Cabinet has resolved to extensively enhance education in the state in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. According to an official statement, children will be educated in the local language or dialect up to the 5th standard. The policy also aims to ensure education for all from pre-primary to the 12th standard, replacing the existing 10+2 academic structure with a new 5+3+3+4 structure to provide equitable and inclusive education.

In a three-year goal, the Cabinet has extended the registration date for the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojna, a scheme providing housing for homeless, economically weaker, and lower-class families in Naya Raipur. The registration date has been extended from 31 March 2024 to 31 March 2027.

Moreover, the Cabinet has approved an amendment to the Chhattisgarh Government Store Purchase Rules, 2002. The amendment mandates that all state government departments procure materials, goods, and services available on the Government of India’s GeM website, following the prescribed procedures. /BI
