New Delhi: Sujata Chaturvedi, a 1989 batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, has been assigned additional responsibilities as the new Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI). She will now lead the organization in its ongoing efforts to promote and develop sports in the country. Chaturvedi was appointed sports secretary in 2021.
“Consequent upon the completion of the Central deputation tenure of Sandip M. Pradhan for the post of Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI), on 30.09.2024, the Competent Authority has approved the entrustment of additional charge of the post of Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI) to Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary (Sports), effective from 01.10.2024, and until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” read the letter from S. K. Sinha, the Deputy Sports Secretary.
Sandip Pradhan’s tenure as the Director General of SAI came to an end after over five years in the role. Pradhan, an Indian Revenue Service officer from the 1990 batch, was officially relieved of his position by the government.
