New Delhi: Praising the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for its multifaceted role, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the central armed police force is making a critical contribution to the country’s economic development. Home Minister Shah, who was speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion of 53rd CISF Day Parade-2022 at CISF Campus, Indirapuram, said the services rendered by the CISF in the last 52 years have been commendable.
He highlighted the critical role being played by the CISF in the economic development of the country and at sensitive airports, Delhi Metro and other vital establishments. “The dedication and commitment of the brave personnel of the CISF are highly praiseworthy. They risked their own lives while taking care of fellow Indians and even laid down their lives due to Covid-19 infection as front line warriors,” he said.
The Union Home Minister said the CISF personnel at airports are taking care of Indians returning from Ukraine under ‘Operation Ganga.’ He also said that he was happy to note that the percentage of women personnel in the CISF is the highest as compared to all other central armed police forces. He emphasized that presently the percentage of women is 6 per cent and male force personnel is 94 per cent. The percentage of women personnel should be increased to 20 per cent in the coming years, he said.
The CISF celebrated its 53rd Raising Day in a grand colourful ceremonial manner at CISF Campus 5th Reserve Battalion, Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. Ajay Bhalla, Home Secretary, Director, IB, Delhi Police Commissioner, DGs of CAPF, and DG’s (Retired), Sr. Officers of CAPF and State Police were also present on the occasion.
On arrival at the CISF Campus, the Home Minister went to the Martyrs Memorial and paid his tribute to the martyrs and laid a wreath at the memorial. Sheel Vardhan Singh, Director General, CISF, welcomed the Chief Guest and all the dignitaries present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Singh said that it has been a memorable journey for the CISF as it has achieved great milestones while treading its path through the enormous challenges and adverse circumstances.
Investiture ceremony was also organized on the occasion, wherein, The Chief Guest decorated Constable Mutum Bikramjit Singh, Constable Anil Lakra, Constable Muttamala Ravi and Constable Rahul Kumar, who have been conferred with the Police Medal for Gallantry on Independence Day-2021. /BI/
