New Delhi: The 25th edition of Fit India’s “Sundays on Cycle” will be celebrated on June 1 as a special Tiranga Rally across the country, blending fitness with national pride. In the national capital, over 1,200 cyclists will take part in the event, led by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. The rally will begin from Major Dhyanchand National Stadium.
Timed just ahead of World Bicycle Day on June 3, the Tiranga Rally aims to promote cycling as a simple yet powerful way to stay healthy, while also paying homage to India’s armed forces. The initiative will also unfold across more than 2,000 locations nationwide.
In Bhubaneswar, the rally will be flagged off by the Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, further strengthening the programme’s national outreach. Joining the Delhi rally alongside Dr. Mandaviya will be Olympic medallist Yogeshwar Dutt, international wrestler Sarita Mor, Bollywood actor Sharvari, and former cricketer and selector Saba Karim.
Along with cycling, several announcements and project launches are planned as part of the day’s events in the presence of Dr. Mandaviya.
What began in December 2024 as a simple effort to encourage Sunday morning rides has grown into a nationwide fitness initiative. Since its inception, the “Sundays on Cycle” movement has reached over 5,500 locations, engaged more than 3 lakh citizens, and gathered 3.44 billion digital impressions. Notable public figures like Sania Mirza, Milind Soman, Emraan Hashmi, John Abraham, Imtiaz Ali, Shankar Mahadevan, and Dara Singh have lent their voices to the campaign.
SAI centres and Khelo India Centres have also been hosting add-on community activities like zumba, rope-skipping, yoga sessions, and health check-ups by professionals from the National Centre of Sports Sciences and Research, making “Sundays on Cycle” a complete wellness experience for people across ages and geographies.
