First NeGD's workshop for capacity building to boost digital India held in Maharashtra

New Delhi: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, has launched State Capacity Building Workshops in collaboration with its knowledge partners. These workshops are a vital part of the Capacity Building Scheme and aim to highlight the potential of emerging technologies in improving service delivery and adapting to the evolving digital landscape.

The first workshop was held in Maharashtra from October 9 to 12. It drew more than 28 officials from different state departments. This intensive four-day training program intended to empower public officials involved in policy making with the knowledge and skills needed to smoothly adopt and implement emerging technology initiatives in their departments.

During the inaugural event, a series of informative sessions were launched to assist government officials in identifying the most suitable emerging technologies for their departmental needs.

The workshop saw participation from diverse group of experts from both the industry and government sectors. They program included interactive sessions, real-life case studies, tool demonstrations and a forward-thinking approach to turning ideas into proofs of concept, pilots or projects.

Launched in August 2023, these workshops are unique for their collaboration between the government and the industry consortium. This partnership aims to help the government effectively use emerging technologies to enhance public service delivery, strengthen governance and make better-informed decisions.

The NeGD plans to hold similar workshops in other states, such as Kerala, Ladakh, Telangana and more, as part of their ongoing commitment to promoting digital transformation and innovation in India's public sector.
