IAF pilots paint Chennai skies blue during 92nd anniversary celebrations

Chennai: As the Indian Air Force marked its 92nd anniversary on 6 October, 2024, a spectacular air show captivated an estimated audience of over 1.5 million at Marina Beach, one of the world’s longest beaches. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, was the chief guest for the event. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, along with senior officers from the Defence Forces and dignitaries from both state and central governments, attended this iconic occasion.

 

The theme for this year, Sashakt, Saksham, Atmanirbhar (Potent, Powerful, Self-reliant), was vividly reflected in the Indian Air Force's display of strength and skill. IAF aviators filled the Chennai skies with spectacular aerial manoeuvres, showcasing their unmatched flying prowess. The air show demonstrated the strength and spirit of the IAF, echoing its motto, "Touch the Sky with Glory."

 

 

The event highlighted the IAF's journey towards becoming a modern and formidable force. A variety of aircraft, ranging from cutting-edge fighter jets to transport planes and helicopters, were featured. Highlights included a flypast of indigenous projects like the Tejas, Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, and Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40), symbolising the nation’s path towards self-reliance (Atmanirbharta). The audience was thrilled by the low-level aerobatics of the Sukhoi-30 MKI, which showcased the professionalism of IAF pilots.

 

The grand finale included awe-inspiring performances by the Suryakiran and Sarang Aerobatic Teams, leaving the crowd mesmerised. The air show not only displayed aerial mastery but also served as a powerful reminder of India’s growing capability, empowerment, and commitment to self-reliance.
