CBM India launches 'Sponsor a Child' initiative to support marginalized children

New Delhi: CBM India has unveiled its “Sponsor a Child” initiative, aimed at improving the quality of life for children with disabilities and other marginalized communities across the country. This program allows individuals to contribute through regular donations, supporting access to education, healthcare, therapy, and livelihood services for both children with and without disabilities.

The initiative is a response to the challenges faced by 78.6 lakh children with disabilities in India, who often experience limited independence, restricted access to essential services, and barriers to participating in society. While government programs continue to make strides, CBM India believes that lasting inclusion requires collective societal effort.

For a monthly contribution of ₹1,500 for children with disabilities or ₹1,000 for children without disabilities, sponsors help provide vital services, including educational support, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and livelihood programs for families. At the community level, the funds also address needs identified by the local population.

Donors receive a welcome kit, which includes a gift, a thank-you message, and a photo of the sponsored child, fostering a personal connection. Annual updates allow sponsors to track the progress and impact of their support. Though there is no required commitment period, CBM India encourages long-term sponsorships, allowing time for meaningful change.

In line with the launch, Sony Thomas, Executive Director of CBM India, said, "The magic of our 'Sponsor a Child' program lies in the relationships it builds. As a sponsor myself, I've experienced firsthand the joy of seeing a child's progress, watching them join a school, develop new skills, and dream bigger. This personal connection enriches both our lives. These relationships remind us that when we reach out to support one another, we all grow stronger, and communities transform in ways that benefit everyone."

With robust monitoring systems in place, CBM India ensures that every sponsorship drives tangible and measurable change, as the program continues to reach more children across the nation.
