Chennai: In a striking display of youth power and environmental commitment, Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) and a leading bottled water company have created a Guinness World Record for the largest human recycling logo. Over 5,000 students came together on the CIT campus to form the globally recognised recycling symbol, surpassing the previous record and sending out a strong message on sustainability.
The record-setting formation was aimed at promoting recycling, responsible plastic use and the idea of a circular economy. The organisers said the initiative was designed to turn awareness into action by engaging young people directly in a large-scale sustainability effort.
Calling it a proud moment for Chennai, representatives from CIT said the achievement reflected the growing role of educational institutions and corporates in driving environmental change. The feat, they added, shows how collective action can amplify the message of sustainability and inspire responsible behaviour at scale.
