Noida: Casio India, in partnership with Sportz Village Foundation, celebrated Children’s Day by organising an inter-school sports event in Noida as part of its ‘Sports for Change’ CSR initiative. The programme supports 20 government schools under the Uttar Pradesh State Board and aims to provide structured sports training to children from underserved communities.
The event, held at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Inter College in Gautam Buddh Nagar, brought together students from participating schools for a day of athletics and team sports. Casio India sponsored the sports meet and honoured the winners. High-performing students who have excelled at state and national levels were also recognised for their achievements.
‘Sports for Change’ is designed to introduce regular sports activities to schoolchildren, promote both physical and mental well-being, and encourage values such as teamwork, perseverance and camaraderie. The initiative also focuses on developing sports infrastructure, including playgrounds and courts, to create safe and structured spaces for physical education.
Commenting on the initiative, Takuto Kimura, Managing Director, Casio India said, “At Casio, we firmly believe that true progress comes from nurturing the potential of the next generation. ‘Sports for Change’ reflects our ongoing commitment to creating meaningful social impact by empowering children through sports education. We are not only helping them stay active and healthy but also building a foundation of teamwork, resilience, and discipline , values that resonate deeply with Casio’s philosophy of creativity and contribution.”
Sharing his vision for the programme, Akira Watanabe, Director, Casio India, said, “Through our CSR initiative, ‘Sports for Change’, we aimed to create pathways to sports excellence by integrating structured activities both inside and outside the classroom. The program has been designed to empower young minds , both girls and boys , to explore their sporting potential and thrive in an environment that celebrated inclusion and equal opportunity. Together with Sportz Village Foundation, we aspire to help children follow their passion for sports while fostering holistic development.”
Over the past year, the initiative has reached more than 600 children across 20 government schools in Uttar Pradesh. A structured sports curriculum has been woven into the school timetable, with assessments conducted to identify sport-specific abilities. The top performers were selected for advanced after-school training at four Sports Development Centres, where they received coaching in fitness and sport, along with opportunities to take part in tournaments and selection trials.
The programme expands Casio India’s efforts beyond educational technology into grassroots sports development. By supporting young athletes and widening access to organised sports, the company aims to encourage all-round growth and instil values such as discipline, teamwork and perseverance.
