New Delhi: In a major push to India-Bhutan clean energy cooperation, Tata Power and Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) have signed an MoU to create a skill development ecosystem for the Himalayan nation’s ambitious 5,000 MW clean energy expansion plan.
Signed in Thimphu in the presence of Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, the partnership will focus on training manpower for the construction, operation and maintenance of hydropower and renewable energy projects. Training programmes will be delivered through Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI).
The initiative aims to build a future-ready workforce for Bhutan’s rapidly expanding clean energy sector while opening new opportunities for local youth and professionals.
Tata Power CEO and MD Praveer Sinha said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment towards strengthening sustainable energy development and technical capabilities in the region.
The pact comes shortly after Tata Power and DGPC expanded their hydropower partnership to over 5,000 MW through multiple projects, including the 404 MW Nyera Amari Integrated Hydropower Project and other strategic ventures across Bhutan.
